# Why We Built a Way to Listen to Your Courses

> Most learners have more time with their ears free than their eyes free. Why LoWisa added Insight mode, a two-host show for every course, and where listening still falls short.

Most learners have more time with their ears free than with their eyes free: a long commute, a walk to class, work with their hands. That is hours a week that a screen-only course cannot use.

## Why two hosts

A single voice reading a lesson is easy to drift away from. A conversation is not. When one host asks the question you were about to ask and the other answers it with an example, the idea lands the way it does when a friend explains something over coffee.

So Insight mode is a show, not a narration: two hosts talk each level of your course through, in order, like a podcast made for exactly what you are studying.

## It follows your course

Episodes are made from the course you are taking, level by level, including a course you built yourself from your own slides with [Master any topic](/help/master-any-topic/). What you hear on the bus is what you study at your desk.

## Where listening falls short

We do not think listening replaces study. It is weak for exact detail, and it is easy to hear a whole episode and keep little of it. That is why every level still ends with a checkpoint and flashcards, and why we suggest listening before a level for the shape of it and again after as revision. [How to study by listening](/learn/learn-by-listening/) sets out that routine.

## Try it

Level 0 of the app's own courses has a free Insight episode. Insight mode is included in LoWisa Plus and LoWisa Plus Max. See [Insight mode](/help/insight-mode/) for how to start one.

## Listen to a free episode

Insight mode is in the LoWisa app on Google Play and the App Store.
