Speak: speaking games
Speak gives you a short set of games each day that make you talk on the spot, the way real conversations do. Thinking time gets shorter and speaking time gets longer as you improve, and the set changes from day to day so you are not repeating yesterday's prompts.
- Open Speak. Find it on the home screen, or search for Speak.
- Allow the microphone. The first time, the app asks for microphone access so it can hear your answers.
- Play today's set. Answer each game out loud. If you get stuck, tap I'm stuck for a way back in.
- Read your notes. The set ends with a short summary of how you did and what to try next time.
Stop Saying: one better word a day
Each day Stop Saying picks one flat word, such as "very" or "good", and gives you better ones to use instead, said the way you would actually use them and presented by Lo. It appears in Daily tasks with a morning reminder. If you use Speak regularly, the word is chosen from your own speaking habits.
What it needs
Speaking & communication needs a subscription and credits. The 20 free credits new accounts receive count, so you can try both in full before deciding. See Plans and credits.
For a routine to use alongside the app, read How to practise speaking English every day.
